Since April 2020:

Mayor Muriel Bowser & Ward 3 Council member Mary Cheh's

policy choice which broadly deemed unique, small, non-chain store/independent Washington D.C. studios, workspaces and art livelihoods like ours "Non Essential" with NO  communicated or consistent outreach for far too-long has sadly & irrevocably DAMAGED & DESTROYED our family Store's ability

to remain in The District of Columbia under current city political "leadership".

For over half-a-century, Frame Mart Gallery had OPERATED SAFELY AND SURVIVED through:

-a dozen US Presidential administrations

-the "Cold War"

-the AIDS epidemic

-9/11

-other Mayors and countless neighborhood, national & international events of concern.

Yet the current MAYORAL ADMINISTRATION,

WARD 3 Council member, their representatives & staff

FINALLY ACCOMPLISHED WHAT OTHER EVENTS COULD NOT:

DESTRUCTION OF OUR FAMILY BUSINESS OPERATIONS.

Frame Mart Gallery was a

SENIOR CITIZEN, HANDICAPPED,

WOMAN-OWNED and

second-generation-operated Store.

so it is with an extremely heavy heart we are sadly compelled to CLOSE our sole NWDC location and leave our neighborhood-

the once-thriving, friendly storefront retail community of Connecticut Avenue in Cleveland Park

(which had already suffered for years "pre-Covid" through an almost purposeful, shameful, in-plain-site demolition-by-neglect

by Mayor & Ward 3 Council "politicians";

unsafe for business, residents, visitors and pedestrians.)

The D.C. government's leadership took advantage of perpetual

"declared State of Emergency" (and unannounced-to-business

or Residential property owners & renters, tax-payers both):

a seventeen month plus shut-down of FORTY storefront's safety/service lane/road for the sole financial benefit of FIVE restaurants & bars

(...while the City increased the alcohol tax on you last year .

Did you even notice?)
